World Wine 2005 Colonia Las Liebres Bonarda

Mendoza, Argentina Colonia Las Liebres Bonarda is the latest release from Altos Las Hormigas, the Argentine winery conceived in 1995 as a joint project involving importer Marc de Grazia, superstar enologist Attilio Pagli, Le Terrazze owner Antonio Terni, Alberto Antonini of Antinori, and Antonio Moraschalchi. Recognizing the enormous potential of old-vine Malbec grown in the warm climate of Argentina, the partners began crafting supple, deeply fruited and concentrated wines with the 1997 vintage. An increasing percentage of the grapes comes from the group’s Las Hormigas vineyard, located at 800 to 900 meters altitude. One noteworthy early fan is Robert Parker: "Wow!
