Canelones, Uruguay Toscanini Tannat is a discovery red wine lovers should experience. Tannat is best known as the primary grape in Cahors, in the southwest of France, but it also flourishes in Uruguay. Don Juan Toscanini founded his own winery in 1908, now called Juan Toscanini Hijos, SA. This tannat is estate-bottled by Toscanini Family Vineyards from the family s 185 acres of vineyards located in the regions of Paso Cuello and Canelón Chico in the south of Uruguay. Toscanini Tannat is 100% Tannat, dark ruby-purple red in color, with a nose of cassis, blackberry, cedar, and earth. Medium/full in body with firm tannins and moderate acidity, the wine offers bold flavors of black currant, blackberry, black cherry, and spice. It is well balanced to enjoy over the next 5-6 years.
