World Wine 2004 Simonassi Cabernet Sauvignon

Simonassi Cabernet Sauvignon is a hot new arrival from Argentina, one of the world s leading sources of great values in wine. The Simonassi Lyon winery traces its winemaking history to the 17th century in Italy, bringing old-world tradition to new-world vineyards. Located at the foot of the Andes in the microclimate of Rama Caida, Simonassi practices minimally interventionist winemaking with grapes from vineyards up to 80 years old. Simonassi Cabernet Sauvignon is dark ruby red in color with a gorgeous nose of cherries, tobacco and spice. Rich and supple with lean tannins and medium/full body, the wine offers flavors of blackberries, cherries and vanilla enhanced with oak. It was aged for 12 months, 20% in French oak barrels and 80% in tanks. The wine is beautifully balanced with a smooth, silky finish.
