New vintage just arrived! Puglia, Italy Sfida Puglia Rosso is an enticing red blend from the region known as the heel of the Italian boot, Puglia (or Apulia). This bottling is 60% Primitivo and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. The name "Sfida" means "challenge," which is quite appropriate for a wine that challenges several notions about the look, taste and provenance of Southern Italian wine. What a pleasant surprise! Sfida Puglia Rosso is dark ruby red in color with a nose of blackberries, cassis, black raspberries, tobacco and earth. It is medium-bodied with moderate acidity, lean tannins and rich flavors of dark berries, black currant and spice. The wine is well balanced to enjoy now and over the next 4-5 years. The finish is smooth and rich. Enjoy Sfida Puglia Rosso with beef stew, hearty soups, pastas and cheeses.
