World Wine 2004 Remy Pannier Vouvray

Loire, France Remy Pannier Vouvray is a beautiful white wine for summertime. Made from 100% Chenin Blanc, the wine is named for its appellation, or its place of origin, the village of Vouvray in the Touraine region of the Loire. Chenin Blanc is most beautifully expressed in Vouvray, where the grape is also known as “Pineau de la Loire.” Jancis Robinson calls it “probably the world’s most versatile grape variety.” Remy Pannier is the largest producer in the Loire, founded in 1885. Remy Pannier Vouvray is a bright gold in color with a nose of apricot, pear, quince, brioche and floral notes. Light-bodied and crisp, this wine is slightly off-dry, bursting with rich flavors of pears, apricots, apples, quince and honey. It is well balanced to enjoy now and over the next 4-5 years. The finish is clean and refreshing. Enjoy Remy Pannier Vouvray as an apéritif or with shellfish, chicken salad, and Asian or Indian dishes, as well as with desserts.
