Toro, Spain Numanthia is a gorgeous Spanish red wine made by Bodega Numanthia Termes in the region of Toro. It is 100% Tempranillo, known here as Tinto de Toro. Numanthia takes its name from the people of Numancia, who heroically resisted the Roman legions in the first century B.C. The vineyards are located on the south bank of the Duero river. The Spanish wine guide Guia Proensa rated this wine 96 points for the 2001 vintage. The principal US wine critics have not yet reviewed the new 2003 vintage, but their ratings for the 2002 can give you a good idea of what to expect: WS 96, WA 92, ST 91. Don t miss out on Numanthia!
