World Wine 2002 Clos Pegase Cabernet Sauvignon

Clos Pegase Cabernet Sauvignon is all about balance, harmony and symmetry. Owner Jan Shrem started his winery with the purchase of a 50-acre estate in Calistoga in 1983, later adding 400 more acres. Estate bottled from all three of the Clos Pegase estate vineyards, this Cab is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon from Palisades and Graveyard Hill vineyards blended with 5% Petit Verdot from Home Ranch. Clos Pegase Cabernet Sauvignon is dark ruby red in color with a gorgeous nose of black raspberry, blueberry, cassis, rosemary, vanilla and floral notes. Full-bodied with moderate acidity and velvety tannins, the wine has flavors of blackberries, black currants, mushrooms, vanilla and spice. The wine was aged for 20 months in French oak, 45% new.
