Tuscany, Italy Tricerchi Brunello di Montalcino is an excellent wine from the acclaimed 2001 vintage, scoring a 92 rating from our Tasting Panel. One of the most renowned and long-lived red wines of Italy, Brunello is produced from a specific strain of Sangiovese (Sangiovese Grosso) grown in the unique microclimate surrounding the Tuscan town of Montalcino. Geografico’s grapes come from the 4-hectare Castello Tricerchi vineyard north of town, farmed by the Squarcia family. Tricerchi Brunello di Montalcino is deep ruby red in color, full-bodied with soft tannins and ripe fruit. It offers beautiful aromas of dried roses, violets, blackberry and cigar box and flavors of blackberry, red currant, mint, rosemary, tanned leather and anise, with nicely integrated oak. Well balanced to enjoy over the next 10-12 years as it improves with cellaring. Rich, velvety and long on the finish.
