World Wine 2000 Ascheri Sorano Barolo

Piedmont, Italy Ascheri Sorano Barolo is one of two lots of Barolo made by Matteo Ascheri in his tiny 4-hectare vineyard. This new release received the coveted Tre Bicchieri award from Italy s Gambero Rosso, making it one of the elite wines of Italy. This full-bodied dry red was aged for 12 to 24 months in large Slovenian oak barrels. It will improve with age over the next 10 years and remain drinkable for at least 25. This wine is for serious collectors of great Northern Italian classics. Supply is very limited! Ascheri Sorano Barolo is dark ruby red in color with a nose of plums, blackberries and anisette. Full-bodied with silky tannins and rich flavors of plums, berries, spice and vanilla, it is beautifully balanced to enjoy over the next 25 years. The finish shows finesse and length.
